Sonakshi Sinha: Painting is like relaxation, it is therapeutic -Exclusive! – Times of India

Sonakshi Sinha is a fashion designer having completed her degree from SNDT university but she’s also a passionate painter. Today, her work on the canvas was exhibited in the city. Sonakshi was surrounded by art lovers at the inauguration and showcase of her art work. ETimes asked the actress about balancing time between her acting career and creative pursuits, and she explained, “Painting is like relaxation, it is therapy. The passion to paint has always been there within me from the beginning.”

Talking about her acrylic on canvas works, she divulged, “My works are about colours and a lot of my identity as well, but not in a very obvious, in-the-face manner. They are self-portraits, my interpretation of self-portraits, and are definitely open to interpretation by people. Earlier, I have painted chiefly in monochrome tones, but then one day I added a burst of colours on canvas and it resonated with me so much that I never looked back.”

A lot of people took up creative pursuits during the COVID lock downs, but Sonakshi’s painting passion predates the pandemic. She explained, “It’s not like I picked it up during the lock down. I have been working on it for a while.”

Sonakshi and her brothers Luv and Kush Sinha have started a new art venture and their goal was to help budding artists reach a wider audience. An advantage that’s not common especially for individual artists.
