Ranveer Singh shares how his father inspired him to play the titular role in ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ – Times of India


Ranveer Singh who is busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ is excited to introduce a new brand of hero and heroism that Indian cinema has witnessed rarely. In the film, Ranveer plays a witty Gujarati man who can go to any extent to protect his unborn baby girl and fights against his own family, a mirror of the patriarchal society that we live in.

The versatile actor has now revealed that his father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, has been an inspiration while prepping up for such a challenging character. In fact, during a recent interview, he also recalled how his father became his pillar of strength in his life. Ranveer shared that his father was always there protecting the family. Jagjit Singh Bhavnani did everything he can to give his family a better life despite being physically, mentally and emotionally drained. Ranveer feels that Jayeshbhai’s journey is just like that his father embarked on.

He also said that it’s his parents who encouraged him to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor while protecting him from all the troubles. As he slipped into Jayeshbhai’s character the seasoned actor realized the importance of his father’s sacrifices. And that’s why, according to Ranveer, this social comedy has brought him closer to his father.

In the same interview, the ‘83’ actor added that he still remembers the adversities his father relentlessly went through and also managed to overcome them. No matter how difficult the situation was he always shielded his family from all the difficulties. Ranveer admits that while playing Jayeshbhai he now has a much deeper appreciation for all the things his father Jagjit Singh Bhavnani did.

‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, written and directed by Divyang Thakkar, also has Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah in pivotal roles. The film is set to release on May 13.
