Divyenndu says that though he has explored multiple genres through films and OTT shows, there is a lot more to explore for him as a performer. “I feel I have a lot more weapons in my artillery as an actor, but I am happy that I am getting to be part of different stories through different characters. There’s a lot more to do though. Dark thrillers really excite me. I would also love to play a vampire. That’s a fantasy I hope to be a part of someday,” he said.
“For me, the script is sacred. It has all the answers that I am looking for. I am someone who believes in preparation because once your base is ready, you can easily improvise,” he added.
For the actor, theatre will always be his first love. “Just talking about plays gets me excited. There’s something magical about entering through the wings, seeing the live audience, feeling the warmth of the lights and performing on stage. But yes, filmmaking is a different craft altogether. You tend to incorporate everything that you have learnt over the years while acting in front of the camera,” he shared, adding, “Given a chance, I would love to go back on stage, but not just for the heck of it. I would love to dedicate 6-8 months to the process, prepare for the role and then perform.”
Having said that, Divyenndu says that OTT has become a game changer for the industry. One of his most iconic characters came through a web show. Speaking about the same, Divyenndu, aka Munna Bhaiyya, shared, “The best thing about OTT is that it is based on merit. Box office numbers and stuff like that doesn’t really matter. OTT is democratic. There’s no language barrier, which I think is nothing short of a gift. If your content is meritorious, people will watch it.”
