Keeping a brave front she first explained that the event was about her latest film and not her personal life. She said, “I think we are here to celebrate a new beginning not just for me but our director Sabbir (Khan) and actors Abhimanyu and Shirley who have worked very hard on this movie. I don’t think this is about me or my life.” But she didn’t stop there. She did acknowledge that she and other people had experienced tough times of late. Shilpa added, “We’ve all in our lives have been through a difficult phase. The last 2 years have not just been difficult for me but a lot of people. The film industry in general, too. Because films have been ready, they’ve been in the can but not been able to see the light of the day. People couldn’t come into theatres. But, this is a big moment for us.”
Needless to say, while Shilpa did not directly answer the query, she did accept that recent months had been tough on her and her family. At the same event, Shilpa was seen touching the feet of her director Sabbir Khan as a gesture of respect and adulation. Of late, Shilpa’s husband Raj Kundra has been avoiding public appearances in general. A few times that he’s stepped out with Shilpa and the kids, he’s chosen to conceal his face with a big mask and dark sunglasses, also wearing a cap at all times. Raj Kundra was involved in the alleged court case regarding production and distribution of pornographic content, but he was able to procure bail in the case after a few days.
Understandably, this much-publicised case had created a lot of stress in Shilpa Shetty’s home and family. Shilpa and Raj’s lawyers had also filed a defamation suit against certain publications alleging their image had been tarnished by inaccurate reporting.
