‘Anek’ box office collection day 2: Ayushmann Khurrana’s film fails to grow, collects Rs 2 crore – Times of India

Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Anek’ has failed to strike a chord with the audience. The film continued with it low trend on Saturday, showing less growth. ‘Anek’ earned Rs 2 crore on its second day at the box office and now stands at a total of RRs 3.75 crore.

This Anubhav Sinha directorial has found few takes in the urban circuits. It is faced a lot of competition from Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, which crossed 100 crore at the box office on Saturday. According to a news portal, a few shows of ‘Anek’ had to be cancelled because of lack of audience. This film is set against the backdrop of North East and features Ayushmann in the role of an undercover agent.

In an interview with ETimes, Ayushmann had accepted that ‘Anek’ may not emerge as a box office success, but the story had to be told because it was an important narrative. The actor had shared, “Dream Girl, Badhaai Ho, and Bala were light-hearted films. An Action Hero is a commercial film. You have to do commercial cinema so that cinema like Anek and Article 15 would find support. You get courage from your commercially successful films to do films like Anek and Article 15. That balance is very important. Of course, you can’t view Anek through a commercial lens. This is not a 100-Crore film. It’s an important film.”
