He has worked with some of the big names of Bollywood. Yet, Saswata wants to work with two of the most respected actors in Indian cinema. “It will be a dream come true moment if I get a chance to act alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah. They are the pillars of Indian cinema and acting institution. So, I wish someday I get an opportunity to work with Mr. Bachchan and Naseeer Ji,” shared the terrific actor.
Saswata’s next is a biopic of Uttam Kumar, directed by Atanu Bose and the actor is a bit nervous ahead of the film’s release on July 22. “Playing difficult characters is definitely challenging but playing the Mahanayak is not only difficult, but one can’t also prepare himself for such roles as no preparation is enough for these kinds of roles. Playing Uttam Kumar on screen is a huge responsibility and I have tried my best and now eagerly waiting to see how the audience responds. I know people have talked too much about the film’s casting. But my request is please go and watch it in theatres and then judge,” adds the actor.
He is also playing a key role in director Nag Ashwin’s much-anticipated film ‘Project K’ which stars Deepika Padukone and Prabhas in the lead. This will be his Telugu debut. Saswata’s last Bollywood outing was the Kangana Ranaout starrer ‘Dhaakad’. He also has Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Bad Boy’ and Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Dobaaraa’ in the pipeline.
The celebrated actor will soon be seen in a Hindi web series inspired by British spy thriller series ‘The Night Manager’. It’s an espionage thriller and Saswata will share the screen with Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala and Tillotama Shome. ‘The Night Manager’ follows a thrilling cat and mouse chase between a covert agent and an international arms dealer.
