While the movie has performed decently in a few mass pockets, ‘Shamshera’ has failed to make it big in Mumbai circuit. Delhi / UP could be the best performing market for this movie. This low score may reportedly set a slow pace for the future collection of ‘Shamshera’. This film released in over 4000 screens in Hindi, getting the second widest release post pandemic after ‘KGF 2’. In order to sail safely through the weekend, ‘Shamshera’ must earn close to Rs 20 crore.
Directed by Karan Malhotra, Ranbir is seen essaying a double role in this film, which stars Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist. Speaking about sharing the frame with Dutt, Ranbir had said, “When you have a villain like him in the film – he’s like the Thanos of India – as an actor it is an occupational hazard for you. You have to build your body at least a little bit, because I have to stand up against him. Aaj kal actors ko actor nahi – actor aur athlete banna padta hai. It has become so challenging now.”
