Kangana Ranaut is essaying the role of former Indian Prime Minister in her upcoming directorial ‘Emergency’. Her first look from the film bore uncanny resemblance to late Indira Gandhi. Sharing a BTS video from the film’s first day of shoot, Kangana had recently shared, “Here is the making of the first look of my directorial movie Emergency, the first look took the nation by storm … thanks to my incredible team, everyday is a dream come true … I have some of the best people in the world… Go team Emergency.” Kangana Ranaut had previously clarified that this movie is not a biopic on Indira Gandhi, but a political drama.
Recently, Anupam Kher joined the cast of ‘Emergency’, he will essay the role of social activist and politician JP Narayan. Speaking about working with the veteran actor, Kangana Ranaut had said in a statement, “JP Narayan was the most powerful human being to have happened after Mahatma Gandhi in politics in recent Indian history. The kind of influence he had on people was enormous. I wanted an actor who had the personality and caliber to match up to that larger than life persona of Lok Neta, JP Narayan. Anupam ji with his stature, his acting skills, his overall persona fit into the role perfectly. I am privileged and humbled that he chose my script. I am nobody to choose him. He chose my script and I am honoured, to say the least.” This movie narrates the story of the emergency situation that was declared in India from 1975 to 1977.
