Make no mistake, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who were on ‘Koffee With Karan’ promoting ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, were totally a mood together. In fact, Aamir, whom Karan and Kareena considered to be ‘boring’, was more candid and funny, and did not miss a single chance to take digs on the host himself. While Aamir sure seemed to have upped his Koffee game, Kareena, well not so much.
In fact, Kareena, who has always been outspoken never taking the diplomatic route on her previous appearances on the Koffee couch, seemed to be missing in action. So much so that even Karan pointed out she was ‘too full of herself’ or was being ‘way too diplomatic’. And we couldn’t agree more with Karan when he said Kareena’s rapid fire round can easily go down as the worst in the history of Koffee With Karan. When asked what she tolerates about Aamir that she wouldn’t tolerate in others, pat came her reply that Aamir takes 100-200 days to finish a film that Akshay Kumar would wrap up in 30 days. Just when we thought it was getting better, she came back with a defense saying ‘Tolerate
nahi, but you do like to shoot a lot which is good!’
Also missing was the competitive spirit to win the coveted Koffee hamper. ‘Oh god! Aamir please win the hamper,’ said Bebo, giving up even before the fun began. Once again she sighed and said, ‘I’ve won this many times. Go for it, Aamir.’ Besides, she had no answers to questions like, ‘Who is the best actor and actress today according to you?’ and ‘Who will not be invited to Ranbir Kapoor or Shahid Kapoor’s party?’ Clearly, this round wasn’t going anywhere, so Karan also gave Kareena a chance to redeem herself and make amends with another question, ‘Name an overrated film you’ve seen.’ “I don’t want to make amends. Why are you asking this question?” she resisted yet again.
There came a point where Aamir himself said, ‘
Flop ho raha hai yeh rapid fire. Koi bhi answer nahi diya dhang se.‘ And that was exactly what the rapid fire jury thought and Aamir won the round with a huge margin.
We wonder what happened to the otherwise feisty and competitive Kareena Kapoor. Maybe motherhood has mellowed her down or is it the constant trolling that got to her? In fact, when Karan asked her to name one thing that 40 plus gives her, she wished she had at 25, Bebo said it was a certain amount of calm and zen that she has now.
Maybe that’s what we witnessed on the episode last night. There were moments when the iconic ‘Poo’ came up, but not enough. Yeh dil maange more…
