
In an interview with a news portal, Vijay shared that he despises his Darlings character Hamza to the core and also he initially felt he will land in trouble after watching the film. He shared that it was a difficult experience watching himself be this man he hates.
He added that he is done watching this film and he’ll never revisit it. The actor shared that he left the film soon after shooting it. “The feeling of how it will be received and all the fear that I had are now put to rest. I am in a good space, finally”.
Vijay also shared with Indian Express, that he was really scared when he saw the film and felt that he would land in trouble. He knew that the film was working well, beats of the film were landing well. But when he was watching it, he was gripped in fear. He shared that, every time his character appeared on screen, he was filled with rage or some kind of dread. “It just evokes that kind of response. I thought how will I get away from this? Hamza did receive a lot of hate across platforms.”
Vijay also shared that his favourite scenes are with Zulfi especially the one where they both are on the scooter and he asks, ‘Is this scent or powder? Are girls impressed by this?’
Speaking of ‘Darlings’, it is a dark comedy helmed by Jasmeet K. Reen. The film revolves around a wife who kidnaps her own husband to avenge the years of mistreatment she suffered at his hands. Her mother helps the girl in this task. The film also stars Shefali Shah in a pivotal role.
