Brahmastra box office collection: Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’s film makes a new record in UK – Times of India

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra is one of the few Bollywood films that have been a success post pandemic in India and worldwide. The Ayan Mukerji directorial has made record collections at the box office worldwide. In the latest, the fantasy action adventure has made yet another record in UK after Sanju that released in 2018.

Brahmastra has hit a rare 1 million pound collection in United Kingdom thus becoming the first film to hit that mark after Sanju in 2018, reports Box Office India. The film hit this mark on Monday and it is expected to finish around 1.1 million pound, the report further stated. This figure is certainly huge in United Kingdom today, as many films managed to hit this mark about 15 or 20 years back, but not in recent times. Other Bollywood films to touch this figure in UK include Race 3 (2018), Padmaavat (2018), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), Raees (2017), Dangal (2016), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) and Sultan (2016).

At the domestic box office, the Ayan Mukerji directorial has collected a total of Rs 218.50 crore nett in 20 days. At a recent press conference, producer Karan Johar was asked about the box office expectations. “The budget has not been broken down into film 1, film 2 or film 3. It is for the entire trilogy. Secondly, we were just looking for the initial acceptance of this universe and it happened to us on day 1, when we got the acceptance. A film to open in Hindi to over Rs 30 crore and in other languages, to cross the 35 crore mark, without any holiday, means that they had bought into the fact that it is a multiverse, it is a universe. We were not looking at numbers. We wanted people to accept this world because there is so much more to come. The moment this film gets acceptance, so whether the film does Rs 200 cr, Rs 250 cr or Rs 300 cr, all that is great and the numbers are very important, but to us, the most important is that we get to make part 2 and part 3. When we knew we were home for those important decisions for Brahmastra, that was it. You only make part 2 when part 1 gets love and acceptance and that’s what has happened,” Karan said.
