‘Vikram Vedha’ rakes in Rs 10 crore on opening day, ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ Hindi earns only Rs 1.75 crore – Times of India

‘Vikram Vedha’ looked extremely promising, especially with two powerhouse performers like Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan sharing the frame. However, the action entertainer has kicked off on a slow pace. The film has found a low response in mass centres. Early estimate suggests that ‘Vikram Vedha’ will collect around Rs 9-10 crore nett on its first day, reports Boxofficeindia. Apparently the film has scored less that ‘Shamshera’ in circuits like Gujarat and Maharashtra.

It seems possible that the ongoing Navratri festivities may have hampered the film’s footfalls. Numbers from East are expected to rise in near future. The opening figures of ‘Vikram Vedha’ are similar to ‘Shamshera’ and ‘Samraat Prithviraj’, with the only difference being that this Saif-Hrithik starrer is doing well in bigger centres and multiplexes. Going ahead, ‘Vikram Vedha’ collections are expected to grow positively. Helmed by Pushkar and Gayathri, ‘Vikram Vedha’ is a remake of a hit Tamil film by the same name.

The Tamil dubbed film ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ has found few takers in the Hindi circuits. It is expected to earn around Rs 1.75 crore nett or a little more than that. However, early estimate suggests that in Tamil Nadu the film will earn a little short of Rs 20 crore on its opening day. ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ has also performed well overseas too. Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha Sobhita Dhulipala and Prabhu among others.
