Aruna Irani: No producer was ready to work with me due to rumours of my marriage to Mehmood – Exclusive – Times of India

Aruna Irani’s rumoured marriage to comedian Mehmood almost left the actress without work and it was Dada Kondke who offered her a song for a film that helped her comeback. Speaking about the episode, Aruna Irani said, “I don’t know how that rumour started that Mehmood saab had married me. No producer was ready to work with me.”

She explained how the rumours became a huge problem for her career. Aruna added, “Then Dada Kondke offered me a song in his Marathi film Andhala Maarto Dola. That’s how I started working again. I was shooting at Asha Studio for the song when I met Rajkumar Kohli who was also shooting there as well. He was surprised to see me and asked, ‘Arey Aruna tu kaam kar rahi hai?’ I said yes, I am working. He said, ‘Mujhe laga tune shaadi kar li toh ab kaam nahin karti’.”

Aruna Irani who started her career with small roles then was able to scale up to lead roles. But, after this episode and her subsequent return she did not bother about playing just heroine roles in a film. She revealed, “After I cleared the air and from there I started getting work again. I didn’t bother about playing only heroine roles. I kept on working.
