‘Doctor G’ box office collection day 1: Ayushmann Khurrana’s campus drama scores Rs 3.50 crore – Times of India

Junglee Pictures’ ‘Doctor G’ is off to a flying start at the box office. Helmed by Anubhuti Kashyap, this film features Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah in the lead roles and narrates the struggles of a male gynaecologist. On its first day, ‘Doctor G’ opened to a strong occupancy and has scored Rs 3.50 crore.

‘Doctor G’ edged out competitors like Parineeti Chopra and Harrdy Sandhu starrer ‘Code Name: Tiranga’ and Hindi dubbed film version of Kannada movie ‘Kantara’, both of which have scored very low at the box office. ‘Code Name: Tiranga’ crashed with just Rs 15 lakhs while ‘Kantara’ Hindi managed to touch Rs 1 crore on its first day.

Speaking about his choice of films Ayushmann had recently told BT, “I have always believed in cinema for change and it is something that I started with my first film, Vicky Donor, and since then, I have been tirelessly treading on that path. I think a film is more palatable to people when it is shown in a way that it has something to say. And yes, you are right that life has come a full circle. It was beautiful that I got a chance to play a doctor in this film, and this is the kind of content that attracts me.”
