Anurag Kashyap says that Rohit Shetty is the most honest filmmaker in mainstream cinema, despite the difference of opinion with him – Times of India

Anurag Kashyap is known as the king of dark in Hindi cinema. Perhaps, even his humour is dark, as we got a glimpse of, in ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’. But the director says he enjoys mainstream cinema. Although, he thinks most mainstream movies today are bad.

He further added that the only person who brings himself to his movies and is honest with him is Rohit Shetty. That’s the reason why people enjoy his movies. He believes that the rest of them just copy what works. Rohit has taking time to come on his own.

Anurag further admitted that he doesn’t agree with his sensibility or politics though. He said that he could argue with his sensibility and politics but he is as mainstream as it gets. The last person who owned that space was David Dhawan who was a genre in himself. He called David Dhawan an auteur.

Anurag’s last film was ‘Dobaraa’ which starred Taapsee Pannu. Meanwhile, after the success of ‘Sooryavanshi’, Rohit Shetty is venturing to the OTT space now with ‘Indian Police Force which stars Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi. The filmmaker will also be starting with ‘Singham 3’ with Ajay Devgn.
