‘Ram Setu’ box office collection first weekend: Akshay Kumar starrer beats ‘Thank God’, crosses Rs 55 crore nett – Times of India


Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Ram Setu’ has crossed the 50 crore mark at the end of its first extended weekend. The movie released on the occasion of Diwali and clashed with Ajay Devgan and Sidharth Malhotra started ‘Thank God’.

Due to India’s match at the ongoing T20 World Cup, few people turned up to watch ‘Ram Setu’ in theatres. On Sunday, the film earned Rs 7.75 crore nett. At the end of its six-day extended weekend, ‘Ram Setu’ has raked in Rs 55 crore nett, reports boxofficeindia. ‘Ram Setu’ has recorded a positive trend in Gujarat / Saurashtra circuits, which contributed Rs 11 crore nett to the film’s total, while Rajasthan added Rs 4.20 crore nett and CI earned Rs 2.65 crore nett. Its competitor ‘Thank God’ has earned only Rs 26 crore at the end of its first extended weekend.

Directed by Abhishek Sharma, ‘Ram Setu’ is an action adventure drama which features Akshay Kumar, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Jacqueline Fernandez and Satya Dev in pivotal roles. Speaking about the film, director Abhishek Sharma had said, “During the pandemic in 2020, a thought came to me and I began to work on it. I called up Akshay Kumar and he asked me if I had written a screenplay. I wrote it and sent it to him. Akshay sir and Vikram sir (Vikram Sharma of Abundantia Entertainment) jammed on it. We all liked the idea and decided to take this journey together. I thank them for supporting my vision.”
