A new twist in the tale! Kerala court lifts ban on ‘Varaha Roopam’ song from ‘Kantara’ – Times of India

The Kozhikode District Court has reportedly lifted the ban against the ‘Varaha Roopam’ song from ‘Kantara’. This is a huge setback to the Kerala band Thaikkudam Bridge who was brimming with confidence that justice will prevail to them after fighting tooth and nail against the makers of ‘Kantara’ for copying their band song ‘Navarasam’.

The Kerala-based music band Thaikkudam Bridge had accused the ‘Kantara’ team of plagiarism alleging the song from ‘Kantara’, ‘Varaha Roopam’ is from their band song ‘Navasaram’.

‘Kantara’ fans were posting messages on social media asking the OTT platform if they could include the original version of the song in the film and make it available. Also, it remains to be seen if Thaikkudam Bridge will withdraw their challenge altogether or if they will continue their fight as they are backed by a strong media group in Kerala.

The court had earlier ruled in the favour of Thaikkudam Bridge and had imposed an interim injunction against the song. Now, the twist is, today, the court dismissed the plea citing a lack of jurisdiction. It is to be seen if the Varaha Roopam song will be included in the OTT version of the film.
