Paresh Rawal shares his state of mind when mother was in coma, reveals the doctor advised him to ‘pull the plug’ – Times of India

Sometimes, due to old age, senior citizens fall into a medical condition there is no recovering from – it could a stroke, a dangerous fall or coma. Their kin however, is then faced with the biggest and most painful dilemma of their lives – whether to prolong their suffering, leaving them in a vegetative state or to quietly let them go by taking them off life support. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal too shared this trepidation once, as he revealed recently.

The actor appeared in Neelesh Misra’s The Slow Interview series and revealed that once his mother had a fall and went into a coma. As the family watched her struggling on life support, his doctor, who was also a close friend asked him to see the practical side of things. Elaborating further, he recalled the doctor telling him that there is no recovering from her state and owing to old age, she most probably won’t survive the surgery. Hence, the wise thing to do will be to pull the plug, ending her suffering.

Eventually, his mother had a heart attack and passed on her own, thus preventing the “Sharmaji Namkeen” actor from making the biggest decision of his life.

Paresh Rawal has recently been in the news for Hera Pheri 3 in which he is set to reprise his iconic character, Babu Bhaiya. Reportedly, Kartik Aaryan too has been roped in the franchise, that will also star Suniel Shetty.
