Huma Qureshi opens up on her role in Maharani, admits she was in a dilemma when she picked it up – Times of India


For an actor, the biggest achievement is always picking up a variety of roles, spread through varied genres, even cutting through barriers of age, language and screen time. Actor Huma Qureshi, who garnered rave reviews for her role in the web series
Maharani, recently opened up on how it was not an easy role to first pick, and later execute.

Huma, who reprised the role of Rani Bharti in the second season of the political drama recently appeared on the actors’ roundtable on Bollywood Hungama and spoke about her role. The 36-year-old said that when the script came to her, there were a lot of concerns vis-à-vis her role in the series, since it was about this middle-aged woman, with 2-3 kids, who is suddenly hurled into the political spectrum after an assassination attempt on her husband.

Moving on, the
Double XL actor said that usually, at her age you tend to wait for a couple of years, before you take up a role like that, in order to avoid being typecast. However, the script of the show was so binding and fabulous that Huma decided to go ahead, eventually not letting herself raise many doubts.

Maharani, created by Subhash Kapoor is currently in its second season and is streaming on SonyLIV.
