Director Raaj Shaandilyaa opens up on casting Ananya Panday alongside Ayushmann Khurrana in ‘Dream Girl 2’ – Times of India

A while ago, the sequel to ‘Dream Girl’ was announced with a fun video. The first part starred Ayushmann Khurrana alongside Nushrratt Bharuccha and proved to be hit. Fans thought it was hilarious but looks like the sequel promises a lot more with many new additions to it. ‘Dream Girl 2’ stars Annu Kapoor, Vijay Raaz, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav and also Ananya Panday among many other fine actors.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, director Raaj Shaandilyaa opened up about casting Ananya opposite Ayushmann. He shared that their aim was to bring a fresh pair that’s never been explored before. Moreover, Ananya has never played a role like this and is looking really new on-screen, he added.

The film has been shot in Agra and Mumbai. The director also revealed that barring one or two characters, the story and everyone else in the film is different. It promises double fun and laughter. The maker had finished writing the script in 2020-21 but it took a while to put together such an ensemble cast.
Raaj was further praise for Ayushmann. He called him a director’s actor and confessed that their bond has become so strong that every time he writes a script, he pitches it to Ayushmann first and then goes to anyone else.

95 percent of the shoot is complete. ‘Dream Girl 2’ is set to release on June 23, 2023.
