Celebrated filmmaker K Vishwanath passed away yesterday in Hyderabad, aged 92. The multiple National Award winner director was known for making compelling, socially relevant films in Telugu, but part of his acclaimed career were also some Hindi classics where he worked with the best of Bollywood.
One of his actors was Jackie Shroff who worked with K Vishwanath in Sangeet (1992). Recalling memories of the versatile filmmaker, Jackie Shroff spoke to ETimes and said, “He was a beautiful person, he was a sensitive director. I was lucky to be directed by K Vishwanath sir in Sangeet.”

Shroff hadn’t worked with K Vishwanath again in the next 30 years, but he kept in touch with the senior filmmaker. Recalling his last conversation with K Vishwanath, Shroff said, “I spoke to him a few months ago, asking about his health and we had a general conversation.”
One of the highlights of their collaboration Sangeet was Madhuri Dixit‘s double-role. As Jackie Shroff’s co-star, Madhuri’s performance won raves and movie buffs consider K Vishwanath’s film to be one of the best in both Jackie and Madhuri’s careers.
