According to Box Office India, Pathaan has become the highest grossing Indian film in all main markets, outside USA also. The film’s collections can go over $36.50 million and it will comfortably cross the $40 million mark before the start of the third week.
Pathaan has beaten Aamir Khan starrer Dangal on Saturday to become the highest grossing Hindi film with collections around $13.50 million. Director’s SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 still holds the top position in the US and Canada with its total collection of $20 million, including all formats. It remains to be seen if Pathaan will be able to surpass Baahubali 2 to secure the numero uno position in the overseas market.
In UK, Pathaan hit the £3 million mark on Saturday. It has become the first film in 21 years to reach this milestone. The £1 million mark was first breached by Hum Aapke Hain Koun! in 1994, followed by Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2002 with a collection of £2 million. Going by its unprecedented run, Pathaan may even be able to cross £4 million mark.
The movie is also doing a great business in the Gulf regions. It has minted $11 million by its second Saturday. It has become the first Indian film to breach the $10 million mark in Gulf by beating Salman Khan‘s Bajrangi Bhaijaan record. And there is still a lot more to come.
In Australia, Pathaan has broken the previous records of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat (A$3.1 million), SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 and RRR (A$3.6 million) by earning A$3.9 million. The film should be able to hit $4 million mark after the end of its second week.
