Karan Johar pays homage to his ‘favourite filmmaker’ as he shoots the last schedule of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani: Pic inside – Times of India

Karan Johar might have been extremely active on the Bollywood scene, hosting shows and producing movies, but it has been seven years since the filmmaker has directed a solo project. His last directed movie was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai.

Karan is now set to return to direction with his highly awaited next, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles. Recently, the filmmaker took to his IG stories to share that the last schedule of the movie is now commencing and that he is shooting a song for the same. In the image, the crew of the movie is sitting in an aircraft, with all seats covered with the movie’s logo. Along with the announcement, Karan also revealed that with the song, he is paying homage to one of his favourite filmmakers. Could it be the late Yash Chopra? Well, guess we will have to wait and watch.

Sharing the same, Karan wrote, “Shooting the last schedule of our film #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani…a film I have directed after 7 years…shooting a song which is a homage to my favourite filmmaker of all times…won’t say anymore.”

The movie will also co-star veteran actors Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra opposite each other. While there has been a lot of back and forth on the movie’s release date, it will finally hit theatres in July this year, as per an official announcement by the team.
