Recently, in an interaction with Curly Tales, the Satya actor opened up on the day when he went to a discotheque for the first time with Shah Rukh Khan in Delhi. Hailing from a small town in Bihar, Manoj had never seen such a life and was in fact wearing slippers when the idea struck them to visit one! He said, “That was a long time ago. A night club called Ghungroo was in Delhi aur maine chappal pehni thi uss samay. Kisi tarah mere liye jooton ka intezam kiya gaya (I was wearing slippers, and at the last minute, shoes were arranged for me).”
He went on to add, “Then I went inside. That was the first time I saw that life. Got to know what a night club is. These people were dancing but I was in a corner, sipping on my wine.”
The actor, in these years, still hasn’t changed a bit and stays away from the glitter and glam and instead, lets his work do the talking.
Manoj is now geared up for his next, Gulmohar, that is extremely close to his heart as it is a moving tale of a family, headed by a matriarch, who has decided to sell their ancestral home. Gulmohar co-stars Sharmila Tagore, Suraj Sharma, Simran and Amol Palekar. Directed by Rahul V. Chittella, it will stream on a leading OTT platform from March 3.
