Pankaj Kapur reacts to ‘Bheed’ being labelled as an anti-India film – Times of India

Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur expressed dismay as the trailer of his latest film ‘Bheed’ was tagged as ‘anti-India’ on social media. The movie narrates the plight of migrant workers during the Covid-19 induced lockdown of 2020.A voiceover during the teaser says, “Ek baar phir hua tha batwara, 2020 mein (Once again there was a partition, in in 2020)” which has led to a section of the internet stating that the filmmaker has deliberately sensationalised the controversial topic by comparing it to the partition of 1947. Disagreeing with the same, Pankaj Kapur told Indian Express that people should watch the film to understand the narrative. He added that Anubhav Sinha has chosen an instance and built a story around it. Pankaj Kapur stated that the film is not saying ‘good, bad or ugly’, but merely showcasing how minds work. ‘Bheed’ talks about the thousands of migrant workers, who had a tough time returning to their hometown from metro cities. This drama is directed by Anubhav Sinha.

‘Bheed’ is scheduled to hit the screens on March 24 and also stars Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Ashutosh Rana, Kritika Kamra and Kumud Mishra.
