After much speculation and conjecture, Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, director Anubhav Sinha and the the rest of the ensemble cast of Bheed have reason to be relieved. Their black-and-white drama has finally recieved a certificate from the Central Board Of Film Certification. The film has managed a UA rating.
ETimes was informed that the UA rating was given after replacing expletives with milder words and deletion of intimate scenes from the film. References to the infamous Tablighi Jamaat and other caste references were also removed from the subtitles of the film.
The crucial scene to be cut out from Bheed was the mass exodus sequence which featured a dialogue comparing the lockdown migration to India’s partition. Another deletion was of the dialogue ‘Indian society is like Dhritarashtra. There was also a modification made in the film’s disclaimer.
Bheed is slated to release on March 24. The film also features Kritika Kamra, Ashutosh Rana, Dia Mirza and Pankaj Kapur.
