Maisie Williams, the Game of Thrones star, arrived here earlier and seemed thrilled with the Dior invitation that was lying in her hotel room that she displayed prominently in a short video on her Instagram page. She also showed the elaborate gifts from Dior that accompanied the invitation.
Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor also displayed her invitation and gave a preview of the gifts that came with it to her fans on her social media page. Other famous international stars who are already here include Bryan Boy from Philippines and Freida Pinto, the star from the international film hit, Slumdog Millionaire.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s creative director has been working for many years with artisans from India through the Mumbai-based Chanakya School of Craft and she thought it was time to showcase India’s incredible range of embroidery and fabrics to an international audience. In a long letter of appreciation that she put up on her Instagram page, she has thanked Chanakya’s founders for their commitment to “preserving India’s history and culture, portrayed by each embroidery technique”.
