Shah Rukh Khan: Nita Ambani’s cultural centre has a spirit of passion, it’s a facility where artists can facilitate art – Times of India

Shah Rukh Khan made a muted appearance at the opening night of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) yesterday night. The ‘Pathaan’ star chose to stay away from the red carpet even as his family – Gauri, Aryan and Suhana made an appearance alongside their family friend Salman Khan. But SRK was perfectly articulate and engaging at the event, speaking with actress-video jockey Anusha Dandekar.
In a video shared on the official Instagram handle of NMACC, SRK spoke about founder Nita Ambani’s plans for the grand cultural centre and the facilities it can provide for artists in the coming days. In the video Shah Rukh says, “Nita has spent so many years trying to get this. I’ve known that, I think… 10 to 12 years back, we’ve been discussing this and she’s been talking to me. She showed me the blueprint. It was designed in a bigger way, differently. Now it’s designed very differently. And it is such a spirit of passion here. It’s such a journey of passion.”

SRK explains how Nita Ambani’s efforts with the NMACC will allow both Indian and international artists to excel. He says, “Nita is someone who’s followed art herself, and we all do follow art, but we don’t create something which facilitates art. I’m an artist, too. So many of us artists but she’s taken time out. She’s taken resources out and she’s put it into a place where it’s going to facilitate arts even more. It’s like the great Mr Sachin Tendulkar teaching kids how to play cricket. If art lovers and art performers don’t do it, who else would? We can’t leave it to just the businessmen.”

Anusha then asks SRK to describe the feeling of the evening in just one word. SRK protests and says, “One word would be difficult. I could say spectacular. I could say fantastic. I could say mesmerizing. But what I’d like to say is, after coming here, I remember what I always followed in my life. And it has reminded me of that. And I’m going to go back, inspired again and work harder. Because at the end of it all, when you see something like this, you remember that there’s no business like show business.”
