The senior actress who played the lead in the first part has put a stop to the speculations as she cleared, “I am a part of Maherchi Sadi2. In the first part, my character dies at the end of the film, so how can I feature in the sequel?”
When we contacted Vijay Kondke to know the update on the project, he said, “I have just announced the film, but haven’t begun the process of making it. In fact, the lead hasn’t been finalised yet. I don’t know how the speculations started. Also, actors who played pivotal roles are no more. Actors like Vikram Gokhale, Asha Wabgaonkar, Ramesh Bhatkar and Balchandra Kulkarni are not with us today. That project has taken a backseat for a time being. I have started work on another film, ‘Lek Asavi Tar Ashi’, which has an ensemble cast. Probably because of this people are speculating that I have started work on the sequel of ‘Maherchi Sadi’.”
Meanwhile there are reports that Alka Kubal and Ajinkyya Deo who played siblings in ‘Maherchi Sadi’, have reunited for Lokesh Gupte’s upcoming directorial ‘Congratulations’.
