‘I’ve not seen Babil’s debut film yet’ says Tigmanshu Dhulia, one of Irrfan Khan’s closest friends – Exclusive – Times of India

Irrfan Khan and Tigmanshu Dhulia’s friendship stood the test of time. They had been friends from their National School of Drama days, when they hadn’t even started working professionally in the film industry. Irrfan was part of Tigmanshu’s debut film Haasil and they went on to work in films like Paan Singh Tomar and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster. But three years ago Irrfan passed away due to a long illness and his legacy is now being taken forward by his son Babil Khan, who recently made his debut in Qala with co-star Tipti Dimri.

Tigmanshu Dhulia, while talking about Babil reveals that he still hasn’t seen his debut film Qala, which was released in December 2022. Dhulia says, “I’m yet to see Babil’s debut film. I have actually been very caught up with work. I was working on my web show Garmi, which is releasing soon and then I returned only a few days back after completing the shoot of my next film in 45-46 days. But I’m going to watch it soon.”

He also stated that he is in constant touch with Irrfan’s wife Sutapa and son Babil. They share a very strong bond.

In an old interview, talking about his friendship with Tigmanshu, Irrfan had stated that the ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ director is his only friend in the industry and how they’ve influenced each other’s craft. Irrfan had said, if he’d have his way, he’d be friends with Tigmanshu in every birth. Irrfan had even joked that he would love to buy Tigmanshu and keep him at home forever.
