Milind Gunaji reveals he the role of Kajol’s fiance in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge because of his beard – Times of India

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol‘s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge is one of the most iconic films that Bollywood has ever churned out. All the characters, from Raj to Simran, are still etched in everyone’s heart and mind. And Milind Gunaji, who has worked with SRK in Devdas, was one actor who lost his opportunity to star in DDLJ.
In his recent interview, Milind said that he was supposed to play the role of Kajol’s fiance in the film but he turned down the opportunity and the role eventually went to Parmeet Sethi.

He shared that when the DDLJ team called him for the role, the makers wanted him to be clean shaven. He said that he was not able to remove his beard because he was shooting for 3-4 films which required him to have a beard. He added that he felt really bad when he could not be a part of the film because of this reason.

During the same interaction, Milind also revealed that he had to decline a role in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Mrityudaata due to some issues. “Maybe there was an accident on the sets of Virasat and hence there was a change in dates,” he added.

He also addressed the reports post the incident which had claimed that a newcomer had refused to work with Amitabh Bachchan. He said that he wanted to clear the air since he had a good rapport with Big B.

Milind said that he was waiting outside Mehboob studio to meet Amitabh. When Big B arrived, he explained to him about the situation. To which, the megastar had replied, “Don’t give it much thought. You are a good actor and I don’t care about the reports.”
