‘Avengers’ director Joe Russo showers praise on SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’; expresses desire to promote Indian cinema globally – Times of India



Joe Russo, who is currently promoting his upcoming series, ‘Citadel’, recently spoke about backing other industries around the world, including Bollywood, to give them a wider reach. The filmmaker also singled out SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ for getting movie fans excited by its storytelling around the world.

Speaking to a Hollywood news website, Joe said that Bollywood is a more diverse version of Hollywood and it should get more international. He thanked God for movies like ‘RRR’ which used a level of technical genius, visual effects, and mythological storytelling to appeal to a much wider audience. According to him, we learn about other cultures from movies like that. The filmmaker also added that their goal would be empowerment. They want to support other markets as much as possible so their stories can get through in a broader way.

Joe has worked with Indian artists before in the films ‘Extraction’ which starred Randeep Hooda, Pankaj Tripathi and Priyanshu Painyuli and ‘The Gray Man’ which starred Dhanush. He has also hinted that Dhanush’s character, an assassin named Avik San, could return in the sequel to ‘The Gray Man’.

‘Citadel’, on the other hand, stars Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden.
