Raj and DK take over the reins and add their spin to the Indian instalment of the high-stakes series starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha in the leads. In a conversation with ETimes, Priyanka revealed if her character will crossover with the desi agents at some point in the show. In true super-spy style, Priyanka teased, “Maybe, maybe not.”
She further added, “But I think all the shows so far, the Italian show and the Indian show and our show, are, as a story, connected with each other. So the more you watch the shows, the more layers you’ll peel away.”
This Prime Video series also marks PeeCee’s first show release since becoming a mother to her beautiful baby girl, Malti Marie. It will see her taking on the role of Nadia, a strong self-made agent who works her way up the ranks to become one of Citadel’s top spies. At a time when there is a dearth of such powerful women characters on film, we asked Priyanka her thoughts on the way the Russo brothers handled her character.
“From the first time I met Joe and Anthony and Jennifer Salke, who’s the head of Amazon Studios, the ambition was always to create a spy show where the female and the male are toe-to-toe,” said Priyanka and explained their power-play, “They are the best in the business, and then they also have chemistry, and to create this really convoluted, delicious, juicy world around them. So I think that Joe and Anthony and David Weill, who’s our showrunner, write for Nadia really well, and I really enjoyed that very much. Because it’s rare.”
‘Citadel’ premieres on April 28, with one episode rolling out weekly till the season finale on May 26.
