Pamela Chopra passes away: Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan spotted at Chopra residence to offer their condolences – Times of India



Pamela Chopra, the wife of late Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra, passed away early Thursday morning. She was 74.
Pamela’s filmmaker son, Aditya Chopra announced in a statement that the star was cremated at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle at 11 am this morning. Her funeral ceremony was conducted in the presence of her family members including son Uday and daughter-in-law Rani Mukerji. Close friends of the Chopra family also joined in for the last rite rituals.

Our ETimes cameras spotted Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, and Sonu Nigam arriving at the crematorium to pay their last respect. Yash Chopra’s brother B R Chopra’s family also attended the last rites.
Following the funeral ceremony, celebrities headed over to the Chopra residence to meet the grieving family and offer their condolences. Also spotted arriving at the house later this afternoon was actor and family friend Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar, dressed in white, arrived at the Chopra residence with his son, Aryan Khan.

The official social media handle of the Yash Raj films shared the news of Pam’s demise in a post that read, “With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 AM today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection.”

According to sources close to the Chopra family, Pam was being treated for pneumonia for the past few days at the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai.

Industry insiders called Pamela Yash’s ‘muse’. She was an active collaborator in her husband’s creative pursuits. She was recently seen in the documentary ‘The Romantics’, in which, she talked about her husband’s way of filmmaking and how Yash Raj Studio evolved over the years.

Yash and Pamela got married in 1970 and were blessed with two sons – Aditya and Uday. Pamela used to lend her voice to many of Yash’s films. One of her most famous songs was ‘Main Sasural Nahi Jaungi’ (Chandni) and ‘Ghar Aaja Pardesi’ (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge).

Pamela also wrote the story of Amitabh Bachchan and Rakhee starrer ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ and was credited as the designer for the 1981 release ‘Silsila.’

The late filmmaker in many of his interviews used to talk about his wife’s creative inputs into films. The couple got featured in the song ‘Ek Duje Ke Vaaste’ from the Yash Chopra blockbuster ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, released in 1997. She even produced films independently.
