Talking about her dark phase in life, Shannon told a news portal that she was about 14 or 15 when she first joined a social media platform. She was fresh to all the negative comments that people commented on her posts.
She said that she was very naive and vulnerable because of which she took it all very seriously. She further added that the trolling got so much into her head that she suffered from depression and self-harmed. She said that it was a very hard and dark phase of her life.
Shannon said that her family and friends were there to pull her out of that darkness and that was a really large lesson that she has learnt in her life. She now wants to help those who are struggling with mental health issues. She wants to tell them that there is light at the end of the tunnel because she has been through it as well.
Shannon is the adopted daughter of Kumar Sanu and his second wife Saloni Bhattacharya who have a child named Ana. The singer had three children Jiko, Jassi and Jaan Kumar Sanu from his first wife Rita Bhattacharya. They married in 1980 and later got divorced in 1994.
