The Kerala Story’ director Sudipto Sen has been going all out to spread a word about his movie. Despite bans and protests, the film has been doing well at the box office too.
Following the excessive travel for the promotions of ‘The Kerala Story’, Sudipto Sen has fallen ill. According to a news portal, the director has been hospitalised due to exertion from constant travel and all further promotional city visits have been put on hold. After recovery, Sudipto Sen plans to continue with the promotions of ‘The Kerala Story’ and will reportedly visit 10 cities for the same.
‘The Kerala Story’ released on May 5, featuring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. The film narrates the story of four women from Kerala who are coerced into converting to Islam and joining the Islamic State militant Islamist group (ISIS). It received a lot of criticism and faced a shadow ban in Tamil Nadu. Reacting to the naysayers, Sudipto had told ETimes, “I just want to say, please watch the film and form your opinion. A film can be good or bad. By discrediting the us, people are actually greatly harming the cause of Indian women who have suffered for decades in the hands of terrorism.”
