Naseeruddin Shah calls the success of The Kerala Story a ‘dangerous trend’, says ‘I don’t intend to see it’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Vipul Shah‘s ‘The Kerala Story‘ has been receiving love and appreciation from all quarters. The film is also doing some record-breaking business at the box office.
However, there is one person in the industry who has blatantly said that he has no intention of watching the movie and that is none other than Naseeruddin Shah. Talking about how he sees this trend, Shah told a news portal that worthwhile films like, ‘Afwaah’, ‘Bheed’ and ‘Faraaz’ have collapsed at the box office. According to him, everybody is flocking to watch ‘The Kerala Story’, which he has not seen and has no intention of watching it either. The actor added that he has read enough about it and does not wish to watch it.

Naseer further went on to compare this trend to Nazi Germany. According to him, in Hitler’s time, the filmmakers were co-opted, attempted to be co-opted, by the supreme leader to make films praising him and what he has done for the countrymen, and running down the Jewish community. So many master filmmakers in Germany left the place, came to Hollywood, and made movies there. Same thing seems to be happening here – either stay on the right side, be neutral or pro-establishment.

Shah also hoped that people would eventually get tired of spreading hate. He added that the way it has suddenly engulfed us all, it will also disappear. However, it won’t be happening soon.
