Ameesha Patel said that they had no idea that the movie had such a huge fanbase even after more than two decades of its release.
She went on to narrate an incident where fans refused to let the crew shoot until they caught a glimpse of their favourite stars. She said “Shoot kar rahe the aur bahut khoobsurat setup tha poora aur bahut mehnat se hamare choreographer aur Anil ji ne sab shot lagaye the. Itni mehnat ki thi aur night shooting hi. Haalaki ye bhi nahi tha ki hum din mein shoot kar rahe the. Lekin bheed itni aa gayi thi aur wo jaane ko taiyaar nahin thi ki nahi, hum shooting hone nahin denge. Jaan pe aa gaye the aur hamare makeup van pe itne khat-khat ki, Anil ji ne kaha ki they are going to throw stones if they don’t see you. Sirf aa jaiye bahar, hath wave kar dijiye aur nikal jaiye apne hotel. So it was like that.” (We were shooting in the night time and Anil Sharma had set up such a beautiful set. However, as soon as fans caught a whiff, they came to the sets and said that they won’t allow the shoot, unless they catch a glimpse of their favourite stars. It was then that Anil ji said that they are going to throw stones if they don’t see us, so we should come out of our van, wave to them and go back)
She also added, “Similar hadsaa huya tha Amritsar mein, unko pata chala ki Sunny ji aa rahe hain, toh wahan lathi charges huye the, next flight unko wapis Bombay jaana pada tha. Gadar ne under-production bhi bohot gadar machayi hain.” (The same thing happened in Amritsar and fans were so excited to see Sunny Deol, that they came in huge numbers and there was a lathi charge, so much so that Sunny had to take the next flight to Mumbai.)
Gadar 2 is all set to hit the theatres on August 11. The film will be facing a big Bollywood clash with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 which is releasing on the same date.
