He also reveals that his purpose of making films is to make the audience think and also mentions that when he read the book, he had a lot of questions and wanted to pass on the questions onto the audience. Sujoy also highlights that he has been getting a lot of calls across the board. He admits that it has happened with all his films and that it is the audience that has carried the film and made it a success.
Sujoy also shares insights on how he created back stories for his characters, like for Jaideep Ahlawat’s character, he mentions that he must have been shaped up by his parents who were academically inclined. Sujoy reveals that when he went back to Jaideep’s character, he felt his parents were inspired by Swami Vivekanada and named him Naren, since the Swami Vivekananda’s real name was Narendranath Dutta.
Another sign of success of a film is that a sequel of the film is announced to take the story and the franchise ahead. Talking about Jaane Jaan 2 Sujoy reveals that he will have to see how the prospects for that turn out. He adds that at this stage everyone is in a happy phase and everyone wants to be in this state for a while. They will start working on any future project after that.
