Akshay Kumar: I want children to watch OMG 2 on OTT since they couldn’t watch it in theatres due to the A certification – Times of India

Akshay Kumar is gearing up for two releases right now, one being Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue where he plays real life hero Jaswant Singh Gill who saved the lives of 65 miners back in 1989. Other being the OTT release of his last film OMG 2 which had him and Pankaj Tripathiin the lead. The film spoke about the importance of sex education in schools.The film had run into trouble with theCensor Board as he and his team were hoping for U/A certificate but the board asked for 27 cuts and awarded it an A certificate.

Makers of OMG 2 were hopeful that they will be able to release the uncensored version of the film on the OTT. But the dreams came crashing down. Confirming the news Akshay said, “I will be showing the censored version. Unfortunately the children couldn’t watch the film because it was adult. Also please make sure children watch the film.”
Director Amit Rai is very upset with the decision. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he pointed out the hypocrisy of the CBFC, he mentioned that one of the deleted scenes in OMG 2 involved a condom advertisement but when he went to watch Gadar 2 which had received a U/A certificate in a theater, the theater was playing a condom ad featuring Kartik Aaryan wherein he was asking a girl her preferred condom flavour. He questioned how the ad was getting played for a film which had got U/A certificate, isn’t that hypocrisy? He also pointed out that Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani also had kissing scenes and the kids were watching it, but the board had issues with OMG .
