Bhagyashree addresses misconceptions about Bollywood; says, ‘People believe we aren’t nice’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Actress Bhagyashree recently spoke candidly about the prevalent misconceptions surrounding Bollywood and the challenges they pose in her interactions with the public. During a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, she delved into the misperceptions that persist in the entertainment industry, affecting how people perceive its professionals.
Bhagyashree expressed that one of the most pervasive misconceptions is the belief that individuals working in Bollywood are not kind-hearted.She elaborated that the biggest perception is that people working in Bollywood are not nice. She further said that they need to keep proving themselves all the time.
She highlighted how social media posts showing Bollywood figures engaging in everyday activities like cooking or cleaning often result in dismissive comments, such as, “They must not be doing all of that; they have so many people at home.” Bhagyashree emphasised that this is a real issue when these unfounded beliefs lead to rudeness and insensitivity.
Sharing the stage with Bhagyashree during the interview, actress Nimrat Kaur added her perspective, noting that perceptions are akin to changing seasons. She recounted her journey in the modelling world, where she was initially told that her “modern face” wouldn’t fit design roles. However, her breakthrough in “The Lunchbox” defied those expectations and exemplified the ever-evolving nature of perceptions.
Reflecting on how Bollywood was perceived in the 1980s when she entered the industry, Bhagyashree recalled the scepticism surrounding the film world. She shared an insight from a 2020 interview with Hindustan Times, where she mentioned the prevalent belief that “films are a very bad world, and no one from a respectable family would be allowed to enter the film industry.” Despite this outlook, she observed that the film industry has evolved over the years, with women participating in various roles, from set design to makeup. However, she acknowledged that certain stereotypes and misconceptions about Bollywood still persist.
Meanwhile, Bhagyashree and Nimrat Kaur are set to share the screen in the upcoming film, ‘Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video,’ with Radhika Madan in a leading role. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 27 and also features Subodh Bhave.
