Amidst the buzz surrounding Jada Pinkett Smith‘s tell-all memoir, her husband, Will Smith, has broken his silence and shared his first reaction to the personal revelations in her book ‘Worthy’.
The actress was in the news all week long for shedding light on a range of topics about her personal life, including the shocking revelation that she and Will have been separated singe 2016.Now, in an email correspondence with the New York Times, Will candidly expressed how his wife’s revelations regarding their marriage, ‘woke him up’. Opening up about the profound impact her book had on him, the actor revealed that it allowed him to see his partner in a new light. He now recognizes that Jada has lived a life on the edge.
He went on to praise her and say that she possesses qualities of resilience, cleverness, and compassion that he had not fully comprehended.Smith remarked in his email, “When you’ve spent more than half your life with someone, a form of emotional blindness can set in. It becomes all too easy to lose sight of their concealed nuances and subtle beauties.”
The book, Smith noted, played a pivotal role in opening his eyes to a deeper understanding of his wife and helped him realise that Jada’s journey has been more ‘adventurous and demanding’ than he initially perceived.
Pinkett Smith shocked the world when she revealed that she and Smith had been acting as if they were still a married couple for the last few years. They began feeling a strain on their relationship, nearly 20 years into the marriage. While revealing that they have been living separately for a while, the actress shared in a new interview that she and the ‘Bad Boys’ star decided to not sign a prenuptial agreement when they wed in 1997 because they never saw divorce as an option.

Pinkett Smith said, “No matter what, we’re going to figure it out and that’s why we don’t need a prenup, because I’m making a promise that divorce won’t be necessary, that we will figure this out.
Among the many things she spoke of, the actress also said that Smith had not referred to her as his “wife” for years prior to the infamous Oscar slap, when he walked up on stage and smacked presenter Chris Rock for joking about Jada. The move got him a 10-year ban by the Academy.
