Recently, the actress in a media interaction, opened up about havingSheela Atta for the wedding. Emphasizing the fact that profession should have no gender, Dia Mirza in her interview with Pinkvilla narrated the tale of when she first saw the female priest.
She revealed that she saw Sheela Atta performing the rituals at a friend’s wedding. She was so moved by what she saw, and according to the actress, she can’t even remember the last time she felt so spiritually connected to the ceremony. Right at that moment, she knew she had to call Sheela. The actress praised the priest by saying how generous and kind she was to come to the wedding and perform the ceremony.
Dia further added that it was only during the wedding that she realized that having a female priest for this job is not something common. This is one of those professions that people believe a woman can’t do. The actress took the liberty to say that all this is the result of the caste system and patriarchy.
She ended the conversation by saying that everyone should be able to do every job that he or she wants to do. No work should be assigned based on gender.
