Rajpal Yadavrecently opened up about serving three months in jail in 2018 for defaulting on a loan of Rs 5 crore, which he had taken in 2010 to make the film Ata Pata Laapata. Mentioning that he has never discussed this incident publicly before, the actor revealed that he had a positive impact on a senior jail official after being released from jail.
He told Siddharth Kannan that during his time in jail, he conducted workshops for his fellow inmates. He took permission, gathered all the prisoners and on the second day of the workshop, those who had no urge to even go for a walk or do anything in life or no direction in life, were smiling and started acting.
Rajpal’s lively personality impressed the jail officials and praised him. One of them told him that he was motivated to get up every morning and go for a walk and exercise after looking at him.When the actor was leaving, the jail superintendent and the staff gave him two certificates instead of one. They told him, “This place is very historic and in my whole life I have not seen someone like you. We got inspired by you. We thought we would hear your complaints every day, but in these three months you have made the walls alive.”
Rajpal also expressed his gratitude to the film industry for not doubting him. He stated that people would have judged him if he was confused but he knew he would come out 100 times stronger and better because he has come out of the low phases of his life as a phoenix.
