Two days after the controversy broke, G-Dragon’s attorney released a press release which read, “In response to news that has been indiscriminately spreading in the media recently, which is not based on facts, we would like to convey G-Dragon’s position as follows.” G-Dragon stated, “I am Kwon Ji Yong. First of all, I have not used drugs. Furthermore, I would like to clarify that the recent news reports about ‘violation of drug control laws’ have nothing to do with me. However, I am aware that many people are concerned, so I will actively cooperate with the investigative agencies and earnestly comply with the investigation.”
Amid this controversy, BTS’ agency also issued a statement revealing that the band has no connection to the rumours. While avoiding any mention of the drug charges, Soompi quoted Big Hit Music’s statement as, “BTS is completely unconnected to the relevant rumour, and [the rumour] is not true in the slightest. We will take strong action against the indiscriminate circulation of rumours.”
