Tanishaa Mukerji reveals Kajol’s reaction to her ‘I am not a star’ comment: I am sure she is proud of me for being honest and real – Times of India

Being a part of the illustrious Mukerji family, Tanishaa has often been compared to her sister Kajol and mother Tanuja, both of whom have had successful careers in the Indian film industry. In the promo of her upcoming celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, Tanishaa was seen getting emotional and said that she is not a star like her sister Kajol and her husband Ajay Devgn.
In her recent interaction with The Indian Express, Tanishaa was asked about her comments on the show and what made her say all that. Responding to the question, Tanishaa said that it was a raw emotion. After a very long time she had performed for an audience or judge and when Farah Khan praised her first performance on the show by calling her a star, she was overwhelmed with emotions.
Tanishaa added that Farah has been an important part of Kajol’s journey. She has grown watching Farah choreograph Kajol and Rani Mukerji. So when Farah called her a star, it really hit deep.

She believes in what she said on the stage and set a great standard for herself in front of these people. She also added that she will feel like a star only when she will feel like she has accomplished even close to the level of love, goodwill, and body of work they have.
“That for me is stardom. They are like my idols and I look up to them. But I did get emotional about getting this validation from someone from the same fraternity,” she said.

When Tanishaa was asked about Kajol’s reaction to her comment, she smiled and said that they share a very strong relationship. Kajol understands the intention behind everything she says and Tanishaa is sure her elder sister would be proud of her for being honest and real. “That’s what we have been taught by our mother to be who we are, always,” she added.
Tanishaa made her acting debut in Bollywood with the film “Sssshhh…” in 2003. However, her breakthrough role came in 2005 with the movie “Neal ‘N’ Nikki,” where she played the female lead opposite Uday Chopra. The film, although not a commercial success, garnered attention for her performance.
