Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi starrer film ‘Tiger 3’ has a high possibility of getting the biggest Diwali opener. The advance booking collection for the film for the opening day stands at ₹12.43 crore, as per a report on Sacnilk.com.
In conversation with CNN-News18, Rohan Malhotra, Vice President, Distribution, Yash Raj Films, talked about ‘Tiger 3’ and said, “There is a good experience of releasing ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ on this day many years ago.And there is a genuine belief in the ‘Tiger’. It’s very good for Mr. Salman Khan’s stardom here, and thirdly, there are enough people who would be interested in celebrating Diwali with ‘Tiger 3’ by watching it in cinemas, and it’s a risk that we have taken. But with ‘Pathaan‘, we learned something that worked well for us. We are taking a risk here again by releasing it on the weekend of the year. But we do believe that looking at the advance and hoping that it will pay off and the bill will open to good houses.”
Talking about the target they have set for the film to achieve on day one, he said, “The target basically would be based on data. We have a number in our heads. I don’t know what to say because I never said it in ‘Pathaan’ either, but we have a number in our heads. What I can say is that the advance booking was looking really promising; surprisingly, there are a lot of cinemas that are even going out full in advance during puja time, so maybe we are in for a good surprise on Sunday.”
Helmed by Maneesh Sharma, ‘Tiger 3’ is the fifth film in the YRF Spy Universe after ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai‘, ‘War’, and ‘Pathaan’. It will reportedly have cameos by Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan and Hrithik Roshan as Kabir.
