Divyenndu lost a friend to Bhopal Gas Leak – Exclusive – Times of India



Divyenndu began his acting career as Liquid with Pyaar Ka Punchnama, but it was only after his Munna act in Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Mirzapur that he broke into the big league and industry took notice of his talent. The actor is currently lapping up a lot of appreciation for his performance as Balwant in Aditya Chopra’s digital show The Railway Men, which is based on the Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984.

In an exclusive chat with ETimes, the actor revealed that he has a personal connection with the incident. He shared that it was through his classmate Chandrahas at Film & Television of Institute of India (FTII) that he first learnt about the Bhopal Gas Incident. He said, “My friend Chandrahas’s father was with the railways and he was behind the console at the station and he was only told one thing that get the trains out of Bhopal.“
“It was surreal when Shiv (Director) called me for the project and the first thing I him remembered was about Chandrahas’s father. Unfortunately, Chandrahas is no more, maybe affected by the gas leak as his kidneys were not in best shape.“
The Railway Men features R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Babil Khan, Divyenndu and Juhi Chawla in lead roles.
