Ranbir Kapoor has blown away his fans just with the trailer of ‘Animal‘, as one couldn’t even imagine him in a violent, fierce avatar like this. Ever since he made his debut with ‘Saawariya’, Ranbir was always called the ‘chocolate boy’. He was largely loved for his romantic roles with song-and-dance. However, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga thought he would be great in an action or violent him, thus went beyond his image to cast him in ‘Animal’.
In an interview, Vanga said that there were films like ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Tamasha’ where he thought Ranbir will be great in violent or action. He further told Pinkvilla that he doesn’t understand why nobody else sees it. But as a writer-director, he could just see it. Vanga further said that Ranbir is very good at action.
Vanga also shed light on the ‘superstar’ tag used for Ranbir on the poster of ‘Animal’. He said that Ranbir was completely against it and never wanted it. The makers wanted to call him superstar in the audio teaser itself but Ranbir requested them to not do that. However, for the poster, Vanga convinced him by saying, ‘Forget about what you’re feeling. It’s my feeling. I feel that you’re a superstar. Hence, I feel like putting it.”
The director confessed that he watched ‘Rockstar’ in a matinee show and wanted to watch another show immediately, but tickets were not available. Hence, he went for another second show. That pulling and calling only happens with stars and that was in 2011!
‘Animal’ in its core is a father-son story and it sees Ranbir’s character on a mission to kill the person who harms his father (played by Anil Kapoor). The film also stars Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna.
