During a promotional event in Chennai, the behind-the-scenes details of the colossal machine gun featured in the “Animal” trailer were unveiled. Production designer Suresh Selvarajan revealed that the 500kg war machine gun was entirely handcrafted from real steel, a remarkable feat that took four months to complete.
Selvarajan, discussing the extraordinary creation showcased in the 18-minute interval action sequence of the film, expressed, “I never saw such a thing happen for any Indian film. It was Sandeep’s (director) vision.”
Ranbir Kapoor, reflecting on shooting with the war machine during the Chennai promotions, recalled the moment when Selvarajan first presented the creation to the cast. Kapoor praised the originality of the machine, commending the vision of both Selvarajan and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Kapoor shared insights into the challenges of portraying realistic action scenes with the machine, emphasising the need to imagine the physical impacts on the body and ears during extended shooting hours.
